Side A opens with a slamming piece of italo disco funk ‘Satan In Love’ by La Bellini. Here we have both the extremely rare original (only ever released on 7″ in 1978) and an updated version from Leo Mas and partner Fabrice. Another beauty is the Loredana Bertè track ‘Number One’, from her criminally overlooked 1981 album ‘Made In Italy’. Recorded with Platinum Hook, this LP is a real stunner especially the B side, but unfortunately didn’t have the success it deserved at the time. Lastly we have ‘Dejanira’ by Aktuala, a cut taken from the Milan band’s debut 1973 album on cult label Bla Bla. Leo describes it as “a track that I listened to when I was a teenager because I followed the alternative scene here in Italy.” It’s a beautiful tribal piece of music with African and Eastern influences, a pioneering sound from a time when the term “world music” was non-existent.
