In a recent article for The New European, Leeds-based journalist Sean Dodson throws some light on a beloved “genre” celebrating its 30th birthday this year. Bringing some relevant context to the matter, Dodson opens the article by pointing to the words painted on the mural of Amnesia (the Ibiza club where it all started) reading: música sin fronteras/music without borders. In these turbulent times, it seems even balearic music can become a political statement; although one wishes it would simply be though of as a truism.
