Beat The Disco Ball – “A mix of Boney M and Happy Mondays with a twist of Chicago house and italo”
Boogie Rookie has been a regular fixture at Copenhagen nightclubs such as Cecil AM, Jolene, Baggen, Natbar etc and played at festivals such as Distortion, Heartland, Karrusel and Roskilde. Now he has moved into another field and released a retro disco-rock track produced together with another figure in Danish Nu-disco – Vinnie Who.
“First and foremost, I tried to make a track that would fit into my own DJ set. A mix of Boney M and Happy Mondays with a twist of Chicago house and italo. And in all humility, I think I have succeeded. I’ve secretly tested the number at clubs and festivals over the summer, and it’s going surprisingly well!” he says.
The track will be released on November 8 via Copenhagen’s Music For Dreams label,. Boogie Rookie will play it live at a midnight release concert at Hotel Cecil and where his co-producer Vinnie Who will also play live for the first time in eight years.
