Visti & Meyland – Open Your Arms – 12″

DKK 20,00 inc. Vat

Written and produced during winter in a remote forest cottage in the far north of Denmark, the two songs included here represent the pair's current state of mind. 'Open Your Arms' conveys the simple idea of openness – a desire to open your eyes, open your arms and carry on, despite the hardships in the way.

The production is driven by a very catchy bassline, acoustic drums, mixed with analogue synths, arpeggiated swirls, vocals, piano stabs and a c-part reminiscent of 70s progrock – a funky track for the Balearic brigade. The next track Hand In Hand’ started out as a homage to a Visti & Meyland favourite – 60’s cult-icon Bob Lind – but took a completely different turn than originally intended and evolved into a beautiful love/relationship song with a summerish yet melancholic sound. Opening with vocals, gradually introducing slow vocoder beats, hand played analogue arpeggios, old-school picked bass and one-take improvised vocals, the track culminates in a piano potpourri of recent Visti & Meyland compositions. Remix duties go to Manchester DJ and production extraordinaire Be Garth Be who delivers a classic Chicago house-influenced dubbed out version of “Open Your Arms”.
