Gambian folk meets sunny nu-disco on Visti’s Vinyl Collective’s ‘Atlantic Fever’ featuring Dawda Jobarteh

For some years, Jonas Visti has been known to Danish listeners as a devoted purveyor of global sounds (jazz, funk, brazil, afrobeat, boogie etc.), through the frequencies of his radio show Visti’s Vinyls.

With his new project Visti’s Vinyl Collective, the Danish musician and radio host is extending his globetrotting venture into a productive force of its own – a collective of sorts, whose aim is to unite Danish musicians with artists from around the world.

For the Collective’s third outing, we present the single ‘Atlantic Fever’, featuring Gambian born musician and composer Dawda Jobarteh and Danish electronic artist William ‘Wille’ Winding.

Described by Visti as “a meeting between Gambian musical traditions and Western disco and electronic music,” the track features Jobarteh on vocals and kora (a traditional West-African harp-like instrument), alongside Danish Jazz musicians Jonathan Bremer, Oilly Wallace and Johannes Wamber. The song was co-written and co-produced by William Winding.
